Minister's Message

Welcome to the World War Two Nominal Roll, a commemorative project by the Australian Government.

The Nominal Roll contains information from the records of more than one million Australian men and women who served their country during World War Two from 1939-45 and provides a snapshot of Australia's role in the war.

More than 39,000 Australians made the ultimate sacrifice for their country during World War Two - this Roll honours their memory and the valour of all those who served during this conflict.

This website is ideal for people wanting to learn more about family members who served during World War Two, or for researchers looking for more general information.

The service and sacrifice of Australians during this conflict is an important part of our collective history. Their commitment and dedication to duty helped our nation develop into a strong and democratic country of which we are all proud.

The Nominal Roll is an enduring tribute to the valour, strength and courage of our servicemen and women in the face of overwhelming adversity.
